The problem with the hanged man is that it comes out too late to be of any use. And by the time it arrives, you have a decision to make..... because hanged man's soulburst is so effective, I find it hard to keep him around...... perm. cripple is a devastating ability.Fertility??? That seems like THE tarrot that could be used to create other units...... First off, Death. A Black Tarot with a great amount of Power, supplemented by good Endurance and Agility, in exchange for low Magic, which means a very low Resist value. Her Vampirism makes her a very active Tarot, relentless attacking is the name of the game, while her Essence of Sorrow definitely ensures that your enemy doesn't regenerate as well as it normally would have, making easier for the party in overall. Her attacks consist of a basic attack that does decent-good damage for a 0 Energy ability (Slice), and an Energy-intensive attack that ignores Defense and Dodge (Iron Maiden), making it powerful against evasive or armored opponents. Soul Bond allows other party members to benefit from her Attributes and life-leech perk, at the cost of having to be as equally active as her (not really a bad thing, but the drain per turn can be detrimental against field spell or long ranged opponents), while her Soul Eater can allow her to hang back while dealing decent-significant damage to enemies at the cost of a somewhat high Energy cost compared to other field spells. Her Soul Burst, Soul Ritual, is a good burst damage/crowd control mechanism that both gives the party time to recuperate/relocate, and takes a significant/troublesome/annoying opponent out of the fight temporarily.Pros:Good, if not significant, Black damage dealerGreat Power with good Endurance makes a decent tanker (30% Black-resist allows her to tank better against Black opponents)Vampirism Perk ensures that you would not run out of health easilyEssence of Sorrow helps your party significantly against enemies that normally regenerate a good % per turnUseful against high dodge/defense opponents due to Iron MaidenAllows other party members to gain life-leech along with significant PowerSoul Eater deals quite significant damage, especially for a field-spellSoul Ritual gives you time to position your party properly, along with disabling a powerful opponent (albeit temporarily)Cons:Would not be very useful against high Black-resist opponents, excluding Soul RitualMelee (even more so due to Vampirism's life drain per turn)Low Magic-resist (compounded further with -50% White-resist)Relies on needing to get close to the enemy a lot, low mobility maps can be a pain (glares at Armlus)Conclusion: Death is a powerful character, but only in specific situations. Low mobility maps and long ranged opponents are her main weakness, along with Magic opponents, especially so with White-nature.Now then, the second Tarot: The Hanged Man. A Blue Tarot with VERY high Endurance, and complemented with above-average/good Power and Magic, in exchange sub-par Agility, limiting his turns. This, coupled with inability to move and a 2-tile range, suggest a defensive character, which is possible but is not the best idea. His Pain Eater perk allows him to increase his abilities' damage the lower his HP is, at the cost of having -50% White-resist, thus counteracting the idea of a defensive character slightly. His Essence of Winter benefits the party's Blue abilities, not just his own, which very good. Grand Cross is a Black ability that deals good damage, with the added effect of reducing the enemy's Resist. This complements his second ability, Cold Torment, tremendously. Grand Cross allows the Hanged Man to do rather decently against opponents with good Resist, giving him a bit of an edge. His Dark Gravity can be used either to keep an enemy separate from the player's party while they focus on a weaker enemy, or to bring an enemy under the focused fire of the party. Arctic Call, while Energy-intensive, is a powerful field-spell that benefits from his Dark Gravity, as it brings the enemies into the area, and Essence of Winter, due to the ability's Blue nature. The party also benefits from the fact that unlike other AoE field-spells (Meteor Strike and Illumination), it does not affect allies, which allows it to be used to great effect in the middle of the party after bringing the enemy in with Dark Gravity. The Hanged Man's Soul Burst, Last Exile, is a very powerful ability that, along with dealing a high amount of damage, permanently cripples the target enemy by reducing its Power and Magic by 4, along with causing a 3% max hp drain per turn. This is a very powerful Soul Burst that can easily tempt players to simply summon Hanged Man just for it.Pros:High Endurance coupled with good Power + Magic makes a high health Tarot with good Defence and decent ResistPain Eater Perk makes the enemy pay for hurting Hanged Man without killing himEssence of Winter boosts the effectiveness of the whole party's Blue abilities, not just the Hanged Man'sCan do rather well against high Resist enemies due to Grand Cross + Cold TormentDark Gravity is a very good crowd control mechanism and helps set up combo with other party membersArctic Call benefits from a no-friendly-fire policy, and and makes combos with Dark Gravity easyLast Exile cripples the target by quite a bit, and lasts for the whole battleCons:Inability to moveShort ranged (slightly counteracted by Dark Gravity)While able to lower enemy's Resist with Grand Cross, still has trouble against high Resist enemies due to low Agility (thus equates to few actions per turn)Last Exile easily tempts players to simply summon and Soul Burst (not really a Con, but worth mentioning)Conclusion: While not as powerful as The Death in terms of direct damage dealing, The Hanged Man is much more versatile and can be used in a more flexible manner than The Death. Still, he is not without his vulnerabilities, and this applies to mainly his -50% White-resist, which should not be there for a Blue-nature, but Pain Eater changes that.Final Decision: While The Death is a great Black damage dealer, The Hanged Man is a much more versatile Tarot, and is useful in almost all situations due to his Dark Gravity and very powerful tanking capabilities. Furthermore, while The Death's Soul Ritual helps the party greatly by giving the player time to set up or take a breather, The Hanged Man's Last Exile permanently cripples the target for the entire battle, which, to me, is much better than having a enemy that's been disabled for two turns. Therefore, The Hanged Man gets my vote.P.S. (concerning an earlier post) I thought The Death was the Tarot most connected with reincarnation? It's in the description as well. Oh, and on the topic of future Tarots (not Into The Rabbit Hole installment, I mean AFTER that one), Temperance (which represents moderation and patience) would sound like a good Tarot for Gelyan (at least, I THINK it do
