like the second art style better. For some reason, I think of Chibi for the first picture. The second one seems more serious, in a way, and the outfit and blades look cooler than the first one. The outfit looks more like a two-piece than a dress, and there seems to be more detail too. The clothes seem better for running and fighting. Boots, no sleeves, as opposed to what looks like high heels and long, big ended sleeves. That's what I got from the pictures, at le
What really sold me in this example were the eyes. They just look better in the second pic. What bothers me is Nera's stance in the second pic. Very laid back, and not dance-like in any way. It looks like a... retarded, backwards third (or was it second?) position in ballet. I'm not trying to sound super harsh in this. Emotion fails to come across in text on a screen. Fix Nera's right leg position, and it'd look amazing /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />Also:Reverse gripped swords get me. EVERY TIME. &

QUOTE (Day&Night @ Dec 31 2010, 10:47 PM) quotecYes, Cham already established that the legs are off. Actually, the entire stance is off. From what I know, she'll likely fall from any type of blow if she stands like that. That should be fixed.QuoteEndQuoteEEndI think it is fair to mention, nera is a self taught fighter, oh course she would have a bad stance. Although criticism is nice and helpful, I think you guys are looking way to into this most players will not care/notice. It's a game, not everything has to be perfect.

wouldn't mind the first style as much if it weren't so chibified in that the character's head is gigantic relative to the body. Other than that part of the style, the toon-like appearance isn't bad. Still would go with the second tho
ow, Eastern Steampunk is winning by a landslide

I'm a self-taught guitar player, and while I won't say my skills aren't honed to their fullest, I'm not terrible either. I taught myself through most of my school subjects since my teachers were mostly crap, and I have a 3.82 GPA. Not bad. So, just because Nera is a self-taught fighter doesn't mean her stance is to be off. How can she fight if her stance, one of the most fundamental parts of swordplay, is wrong? If you want to look at it from a logical/realistic point of view, she would have obviously taught herself a stance that maximizes her combat ability.I find it ironic that you're talking about "looking way too into this". You're the one who brought up this "self-taught" thing, whereas I'm simply concerned with how the game will look. I will say one thing, though. No matter how casual of a gamer you are, you will notice the legs are off. There are no if, ands, or buts about it. If the game doesn't look appealing, very few people will play it. It's not so much about realism as opposed to aesthe
er stance is actually a 'spring' stance. Good for sprinting and jumping. (I said this because I tried standing like that.) It is true that most people would think that it's off tho
sigh* Let's not try to get too detailed about this, or I'll have to point out that the way she's leaning backwards while holding her swords backwards as well will give her no forward momentum with her swings, not to mention the fact that her swords are backwards unless they're double-bladed (which they don't appear to

She gets the swords at the start of the game, there hasn't been much time to refine her battling. Nera is, most likely, looking for a stance she is comfortable in. And as mokona mentioned the stance she is in is for speed, something I think we can agree would fit nera's fighting. On the topic of asthetics, I was simply trying to say we shouldn't worry too much because it doesn't look that

Maybe that's just because I have ADD... but oh well. Brain Chemical Imbalances are the stuff of my life, so eh.You don't get speed from leaning back. Trust me, I know.
