QUOTE (Fool @ Nov 28 2010, 08:20 PM) quotec...I'd prefer if there was some way to turn it off. (I hated having to mute the entire game just because I couldn't stand the voice acting in FFX and FFXII...)QuoteEndQuoteEEndI agree. Voice acting could make the game's dialogue scenes better (or awesome, if you have the right actors), but at the same time, the possibility of failure is there. As simple checkbox for voices shouldn't be too difficult either (most games have that option for music anyway).quoteoQUOTE quotecSomething else I'd like to see is more abilities for Tarots...QuoteEndQuoteEEndI don't know about that. I see what you're getting at, but I think that the point of the tarots is to support the main characters, not fight with them. For example, the Magician's energy gaining ability is great throughout the whole game. Same with the Priestess's healing ability. It's also why they can be soulbursted, not to mention the fact that there are two for every character. Sometime I do just use a tarot for its soulburst, but that doesn't mean that the tarot is not useful.quoteoQUOTE quotec...I would like to see more worldbuilding and depth to characters...QuoteEndQuoteEEndAgreed. The original Ge.ne.sis had a great story, but the characters weren't as developed as they could have been. In An's words, Ge.ne.sis is "story-driven", so I'm sure he's paying attention to t

QUOTE quotecI think the Sidequests will help quite a bit with the worldbuilding and character depth. So long as we have a pretty decent supply of them, we could bang out a pretty good storyline and have the players get some additional benefits as well.QuoteEndQuoteEEndOoh, like the sidequests in Chrono Trigger? I loved those. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> I support this idea. One more suggestion, though: would it be possible to make the sidequests more spread out through the game rather than having them all be unlocked very suddenly right at the end? Games like FFVII always bothered me because once you get to the final dungeon, you basically press a giant pause button on the plot while you run around doing sidequests to power everyone up. I prefer it when sidequests are unlocked gradually rather than all at once, so that doesn't happen.quoteoQUOTE quotecI don't know about that. They seem rather shallow if that's the only way they can be useful. Many of them be used for combat and are quite good at it in the early game. I suppose this could go either way, but I would like to see at least one more ability for each of the Tar

If you are completely lost when I say skit system, think of the optional extra dialogue after doing something. A popular series with a system like this would be the tales series. And a flash game that has something similar to what I am suggesting is Mad

/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> I love skits, especially in the Tales series(I only go Abyss though). Maybe they could give some insight or help, just like in the game, or maybe some random stuff. And while on the topic of Tales series, maybe I'll add one in the anime or game section(it'll only be Tales of the Abyss though, 'cus I didn't get the other games, at least the manga/anime are go

I have little knowledge of Flash editing(hope for you, An, it's nothing like Linux, which is confusing and gives me a headache), so I wouldn't know. I would take the Visual Novel over Tales skits, because it seems more sim

o matter what skits need some requierments. Even being at a certain part of the game is a requirement. I wasn't thinking the requirements should be any where as complicated to get as some tales skits. I was more thinking after a boss battle you can access a skit, if you so choose, or after a side quest you can access one. Etcetera. The skit was just an example of the kind of casual dialogue I like seeing between charact

This seems old, but I resent voice acting in games, if only the English version ones. I hate dubbed versions of almost anything, from games to shows(no offense to the people who worked on it). Give me subtitles any day. Plus, there could be a problem with including audio, and to find people to voice act with enthusiasm. You could use some type of voice edit software, and only use one voice, but that's more trouble. And something I think is overlooked, what about music for the DTRH? Oh, and the character contest thing too. That's

Lots of Gely hitting on the girls, Nera commenting on how unreliable and potentially impotent Gely is, Sisi being... well, Sisi.Voice acting would be a thing to overcome.... I've heard some pretty TERRIBLE voice actors casted for various things, most notably the new fan-made SCII movie that's on the drawing boards. Animation= good. Voice actors = AGONY IN MY EARS.If it comes down to it, editing the scripts will be fairly easy... many of us here on the forums already write as a hobby, so that can be easily overcome. We just need some creative ideas from some creative people, and we can bang out some pretty good skits with the characters we have h

Also, I agree the voice acting could be hard to overcome, although I'm not sure if it's necessary to voice act the skits. We also have to consider that voice acting all the skits could make the file much larger. These are optional to watch, so not voice acting the skits wouldn't be a huge l

f An likes the idea, how about we make a skit creation thread in the Creative Writing part? I say no to voice acting, mostly because it would be trouble, and I'm okay with just reading. Use your imagination to make the characters voice, which is easy to do. I already made the voices for every character in the first part of the game, so I'm okay. Stop being a pest.On topic, this 'skit' idea is very interesting. I can imagine some already with regards to which Tarot is summoned more, or say Gelyan getting his ass kicked by a 'friendly' spar.Who knows, An may actually put some fluff in as well...Just depends on how Neraine harms Gelyan, that's all.

As for acting, although acting could be great, they're not necessary. Also, getting actors could be difficult. If An happens to stumble on half a dozen decent VA's, then acting is a great idea. Considering the unlikeliness of that, I say that he shouldn't bother. Too much work for just an accessory to the main g

've got an idea, the skit system could act like achievements, as in if you complete an achievement then you get a skit. I think that would give a lot more incentive to getting achievements and thus add to replay value/time spent play
