I've been watching Code Geass over and over again recently, and I've noticed something about Geass, The Power of Kings. What is a king if his followers do not give their loyalty to him? A true king would have Absolute Obedience amongst his followers. Thus, Lelouch Vi Britannia.A king who is not protected from the evils of the world would crumble in an instant. He must be warded, such that his people may prosper under the rule of a true king. Thus, Rolo Lamperouge. If a king does not pay attention to what happens within his kingdom, how is he to know whether conspiracy is within? By keeping his eyes and ears open, he understand his kingdom, not only for conspiracy, but for his people as well. Thus, Mao.A king must sometimes hide secrets for his kingdom, for the good of his people, he must seal away that which is unnecessary. And when a king conquers another king, would he not wish to ensure that the other king cannot threaten his own rule? Thus, he would take away, or remove the power of the other king. Thus, Charles Zi Britannia. To have obedience and to be loved are two different things to a king. Only when a king is beloved by his subjects, would his rule be truly without resent, and be with full accord with his kingdom and his people. Thus, C.C.Even a king is mortal, but one does wish they are not, for a true king's rule would be eternal. The continuation of their rule, if only for his subjects, is wished and desired. Thus, Marianne Vi Britannia.Knowledge of other kings is vital, for if a king does not pay attention to his neighbours, how is he to know if they wish him harm? Knowledge is power, and a king must possess this power to ensure the continuation of his rule. Thus, Bismark Waldstein.Geass is not simply the Power of Kings. It is both the Wish and Power of Kings.
