Couple of things to bear in mind, I've been too busy to extensively play the game properly so I've only done so on Insane for the first 10 or so battles and the rest on Easy(up to and including Tales although the original reason that I did that was due to wanting to know how high the levels go so I could plan future stat builds.>_>;)StorylineMmm. It's an interesting concept and one which I've rarely seen used in flash games(There's a couple of console rpgs out there which use something similar but hey, trying to say a story is 100% original is next to impossible.) More importantly, the flow of the storyline (outside of Gelyan's betrayal and being let back into the party so easily... was pretty good. The characters I felt were memorable enough although Pino and his girlfriend(at the moment anyway) feel a bit tacked on to be honest. That said, I felt that the overall feeling and the length were pretty good. 8/10GraphicsI'd be lying if I said that the graphics aren't pretty. I'm not really one to dwell on graphics but I do have to say that having something esthetically pleasing is always a plus even if it's not a necessity. 8/10GameplayThe crux of any good game which can turn a good story into something with horrible pacing(I'm a bit hard pressed to think of any examples at the moment. Perhaps Der Langrisser's slow gameplay.) and a bad story into an addictive mass of gameplay(I.E older first person shooters like Doom). I do like a lot of the gameplay aspects, from the moon shards being used for minor boosts, to stats being distributable. However I find that lot of it is painful when you consider a longer playing period. This game needs a skip animation/speed up button pretty badly, something to make your character "skip" straight to the ending square instead of walking, the ability to skip battle animations(just have numbers pop out from the enemy) would have made things much more fast paced for 2nd time players rather than having to see the same animations over and over.I did/do find the battle map a bit clunky with 4 units and 3 tarots possibly active which I felt made the game a bit messier than it should have been. I also felt that having a training mode where you could test various builds or replay past battles would have been nice. Then there's the whole lovers thing. I'm not likely to donate(nothing against you, I just don't like donating online in general. Sorry.) so I would have liked having access to it AFTER everything was complete(perhaps have unlockable donate only content unlocked after defeating EVERY optional boss would have been nice for completion's sake. I mean there's nothing else to use it on outside of playing around on a test map?.)That said, the challenge level of doing an insane mode only game(up to where I played anyway) was pretty good, not too hard that you felt it was impossible and not too easy that you felt the game needed to be harder. All in all, I did enjoy the gameplay and having three gameplay modes was a good idea. 7/10Music/soundsSound effects were nice(albeit slightly loud imo) and the music was pretty good. I tend to prefer listening to my own stuff though so bonus marks for including a mute button of sorts. 8/10OverallAll in all, it was a very enjoyable couple of hours spent on playing a good flash game. Perhaps not the absolute best thing in the world but hey, there's no game that is perfect. 8/10Pros:+Good graphics+Fairly unique storyline+Memorable characters+Customisable charactersCons:-Slow moving-No post-postgame(complete the bonus content and that's it. You can't fight anymore batt

But yeah, about the battlefields...You point out that Der Langrisser was slow, but that's partially due to the sheer size of the maps, yet you think that the Ge.Ne.Sis battlefield is too cramped for the number of units? That seems contradictory.Everyone has different preferences in terms of the unit-to-map-size ratio, so it's impossible to please everyone, but I think Ge.Ne.Sis does a good enough job of striking a balance between opposing tastes by making every turn matter a lot. If you prefer a mobile, smaller group, you can start attacking right away without summoning all of your Tarots. If you like a larger army to besiege the enemy and win by attrition, hang back and summon away; you lose a turn but have more offensive capability later to compens

Regarding the 'clunky-ness' of the map, it's more of a preference of one tactical decision over the other. Like EL said, attacking right away without summoning all the Tarots allow for a smaller more mobile group. On the other hand, hanging back and summoning appropriate Tarots, while time-consuming and, in the long term, energy-consuming, can maximize your damage potential by bringing in reinforcements. It's all a matter of one's preference in tactics. Ge.Ne.Sis' maps are set up such that, if you summon all your Tarots, you have a reasonable amount of space yet (excluding Armlus...*glares*), and rushing in to strike first, summon later or not at all also means more space for maneuvering and repositioning your units strategica

I also found that trying to position things so that I could get both Sisi and Magician into a good spot to attack was all but impossible... I don't think I've ever had one turn since I had Gelyan join up that I could attack the same enemy with both of them without using Hangman or shuffling around characters moreso than I'd like. That said, It could be my style of playing of course. In general, I could've used one more row on most of the maps(as mentioned, Armlus' battle is very very painful mobility wise) but it's not really a HUGE problem, I just like having space to maneuver. As for Doom, hey people still play first person shooters and the gameplay never changes. MOAR GUNS yes. MOAR ENEMIES yep. But the base gameplay of going to places and pressing switches/collecting keys/whatnot never changes.Speed wise it's not really an issue of whether they move fast enough or not, It's more for second time players/players who want a fast game like Fire Emblem where you can skip most battle animations if they get too long.(Case in point, the gamecube ones... wow. could you take much longer for animations? >_>; a single attack animation can take around 20-30 seconds, you'll do that around 100 times before finishing one map. That's half and hour to almost an hour whereas with the skip animation option, it takes about 5 seconds which is significantly faster)That said, both problems are fairly minor

ale, thank you for the reviews! Yeah, I do realized Ge.ne.sis has some problems. Thank for pointing them out. I plan to overhaul most of the controls and a large part of the game engines in the sequel to improve the speed and give more options to play

The relatively lacking "Save" function. I think that it's the player's right to decide when to save, so being forced to run around to certain points to save was a bit annoying. As well, being rushed into another battle before I have a chance to save has also caused me some problems (After Sisily and Emi fought off the 4 Cloudhoppers, the power to my house was cut (thunderstorm...), so when it came back on, I had to fight Chio, the 2 Cloudhoppers, and the 4 Cloudhoppers all over again. Aggravating.)Anyways, I agree with all of Hale's ratings, apart from the one for music. I think Caleb did a superbe job with all the BGM, and I never once found the sounds to be too loud. 9.5/10 ( I reserve 10 for those truly deserving of it... Like John Williams or Hanz Zimmer. /happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" /> That is not to say Caleb is lacking in any way. He just needs to pump out a song in 12/8 or 6/8 time and he'll have me hooke

eah, the save feature of genesis is target of multiple complaints. It will probally be changed in the sequel so you can save anytime after a bat
