I couldn't believe my eyes. Where had she come from? No, this couldn't be. A homunculus was one thing. A human...that was a whole different story. If Nelly were to find out, he'd get so angry... No, not angry. He'd rampage around the house with blazing fire lasers beaming out of his eyeballs. The woman dressed in white priestess robes stared at me. I could swear she wasn't blinking. It was kind of creepy if you ask me. She was very beautiful, very angelic like. I couldn't even tell her age. She looked young, but ancient enough to my grandmother.I wanted to ask who she was...but I didn't want to sound so hasty. I also didn't want her to take it the wrong way. Who knew? Maybe she was a psychopath ready to kill you if you crossed her. Either way, it was best to be careful.I've read a few too many fantasy books when I was young. There were these stories where random spirits would appear to people and would offer them three wishes in exchange for their soul.I thought. She didn't look like the kind of person that would take your soul in exchange for anything. She just looked like the kind of person that would take your soul AND body without any offers in exchange. And the worst thing was that she'd look good doing it. Maybe I was being melodramatic, but I guess that's what literature does to you."Do you speak Freya's language?" I asked. I automatically regretted asking such a half-witted question. I shivered at the thought. Okay, maybe "I do." She answered peacefully,"Oh." I slowly began to slide to the window, I used my peripheral vision to scan outside. The distance between the second floor and the first shouldn't be that great. In case of an emergency, I was always taught to jump out the window. My brother always had the weirdest emergency tactics. I didn't know if to be glad that I never had a chance to try any of them. "So...what do you want from me?" I creeped to the right side of the wall as I went for some small talk. She closed on me to the left . "I am not going to hurt you." She moved closer. "I am only here because of you."Unfortunately, I suspected that answer was coming. If Nelly were to hear this he'd smack me with a frying pan a hundred times. Oh, yes. I could hear him loud and clear: I couldn't help but sigh outloud. Once again, I guess it was going to be my fault."What do you mean?" I shook my head as I attempted to reach for the window once more. "I didn't call for you, though...""It is true that you were not aware of me until tonight but I was always present in your life." "But I don't even know you!" I was a bit angry now. Something about her comment irked me. I couldn't explain it, though."You cannot recall who I am but you have always known me. Perhaps you do not remember because I did not appear to you in this present form for many years, but today I had no choice. I was forced to come to you with a warning.""But I...""You are in danger. Your family is in danger. The Elders have sent the General after you with the strict order to execute you.""That's not new." I shot back with a bitter tone. "The General has been after us for a while. He's not been able to do anything so I don't see why we should worry. As for the Elders..."The lady's sudden change of facial expression paralyzed me. She looked sad, but the kind of sad that leaves a painful abyss in your stomach. "Please, leave this town. The General will carry out these orders because there's more at stake for him now. You must survive, just like your mother and father have done in the past. The only way to do that is to leave ."Her words echoed in my ears until I fell dizzy to the ground.I whispered. I tried to regain my strength. "What do you know about them!?" I yelled as I reached for the wall."Your mother and father were not from this city. Your whole life is a lie. You and your brother are not who you think you are. The Elders know this, which is why they had a close eye on you ever since your parents were taken. They will not stop at just capturing you, nor will they forgive your recent displays of alchemy in public." I could hear Nelly's and Anil's footsteps stomping swifly on the wooden staircase."What do you mean? Please, explain this to me! What do you mean a lie? My ancestors were all from Freya! We're...we're..."The footsteps got louder."My time here is done. Please, be careful." The mysterious priest lady began to fade into thin air. I tried to grab her arm, reach for her...but my hands would just go through her."Wait! I have a lot of questions to ask!""I do not possess the answers. They are out there for you to figure out. Listen to my warning and leave this city without delay. Your journey must begin here, today. But you ." "But, I can't just leave my home! is my home!""No, it isn't. I suggest you trace back your real ancestors and begin searching for your answers there. This is only the beginning after all. I will appear to you again, but for now I must go.""Wait! How do I summon you? Can you at least tell me your name?" I screamed at the top of my lungs, fearing that she had already gone."You once called me the High Priestess."That was the last thing she said before she vanished. This last thought engraved itself deep into my memories. The lights flickered; the door suddenly swang open."What's wrong?! We heard voices so we got worried!" Nelly's face was red from all the running.Anil came right after him, also agitated. "Are you okay, dear?""Yes," I answered. I looked at my reflection thought a mirror. Tears were dripping down my cheek. I held my breath. "I must not cry," I thought."Mom," I whispered. "Dad..."Anil ran towards me and hugged me tightly. "It's okay, Elie. Sometimes it's okay to cry," she said as she patted my back."Did you have a nightmare?" Nelly walked through the maze of books I had on the floor and sat on my bed. "Was it about mom and dad?""No. It wasn't a nightmare.""Then what was all the fuzz about?" Nelly's voice was full of worry. "We have to leave this place...tonight."Anil and my brother looked at each other puzzled. "Why?" they asked almost in unison.I wiped the tears from my face. Then, I made up my mind. I looked straight into my brother's eyes and told him, "Just trust me, we have no choice but to leave tonight.&q

oooh, what's the filler-chapter about in the first place? Reactions may vary according to whatever happens in the filler. Still, can't wait for chapter three

The siblings barely had the time to pack two bags and run far from their house into the woods after midnight. Even with such little time, Anil had managed to prepare an impressive amount of food. Elie thanked her several times as she put the provisions into a big, wooden cart. All Anil could do was to watch helpless as the two most important people in her life were pandemoniously fitting their belognings into giant bulks. She anxiously waited for them to finish and when they were done, she tearfully said goodbye to them. "Don't worry about the bakery-house. Just make sure to come back home safely," she sobbed as they departed. The three of them hugged and then, they parted ways.Everything after that happened so fast that neither sibling had a chance to catch their breath. Nelly didn't ask Elie any questions, and in return, Elie did not bother Nelly with the details. The leaves crunched as brother and sister made it half blind through the thick, dark forest. Their guide was none other than their poorly trained homunculus. The sheep-looking-pet seem to find its way through the maze of green pretty well considering the fact that he'd only been let out of the house a few times. Nelly had brought a map, but had no time to look at it. He had decided to let their fate rest on Cotton Baphomet's instincts. It didn't worry him much since the homunculus had made it home safely from it's month-long disappearances into the woods."How far till we're outside Freya's territory?" Elie muttered out in between heavy breaths. It seemed like they had walked for hours. Her brother followed right behind her, pulling the cart with necessary goods for the trip. "Three, four days tops," he calculated. The white haired boy with the shining emerald eyes shivered from the cold as he said this. Even though he had two long sleeve-shirts and a very thick wool jacket he couldn't stop Freya's winter from freezing him to the bones. "Now, stop talking and keep moving or they will catch up to us.""Catch up to us? Nobody is following us."Nelly stomped swiflty by his sister further leaving her behind. Then, he turned around and gave her a serious glare. "Nobody is followin us...yet. Now hurry up," he demanded. The girl forced a gulp. Her entire body felt heavy. Her long, white hair began to mix with the watery, white snowflakes that had began to fall down on them. "Brother, it's snowing. We might have to stop soon."Now he seemed annoyed at the obvious comments. "I know. That's why I'm telling you to be quiet and keep moving."Brother, sister and homunculus kept moving under the snow at a constant speed. The snowflakes had began taking a heavier form, as a storm threatened to hit the Freyan territories. Luckily for them, the storm wouldn't be too much of a hindrance to them, since the tall timberland would give them some cover. If they waited a couple of hours the snow would melt away in the morning, and they could continue their journey without any trouble. They walked for a couple of minutes -or was it already hours?- until it seemed that the storm would finally pour on them."We will be resting under those trees, over there." Nelly signaled as he continued to pull the cart foward. "We'll stop for a little bit, and then we'll continue.""So...we're just waiting for the storm to pass?""Pretty much."The older sibling took two wool blankets from the cart and gave one to Elie. "Keep yourself warm with this.""Hmm, okay." Elie found a big crack on the tree and went in. She then looked puzzled as her brother sat outside the tree."What are you doing?" She asked. "You'll freeze to death if you stay over there!""That cave thing is not big for the both of us. I'll stay here with Cotton. Now get some sleep."She was going to stubbornly refuse, but the homunculus had already positioned itself confortably next to her brother. The storm finally came - leaving the dark, evergreen forest painted with a heavenly white. Not too far away, a slumbering Anil was about to be abruptly awaken by the impatient knocks of a very angry General Ashwo
